I will publish a detailed map of the districts Democrats can target to stop the GOP from killing Medicaid piece by piece. This one uses third-party data, but I’ll need to build my own and keep it handy. It’ll be useful all the way through November 2026. Drops tomorrow.
That all make sense on the premise that there will be an effective next election. If they've been told quietly that they don't have to worry about the next election, this mechanism is defunct.
To that extend - take a look of what is happening at the National Archive, which does play a small but lesser known role in elections.
How fast and effective is the takeover of the civil service to exert control over the execution of the next election? If the last two weeks are a data point, that's a definite risk.
Why do you think Fox News viewers would care about Medicaid? It’s a program for the poor. I don’t have the stats, but I think most of them don’t qualify for it. They do care about Medicare and SS though.
I think that your assumption that FoxNews audience is only wealthy biz men , upper class or upper middle class is mistaken. It’s used mostly for tribal id and to brainwash voters who otherwise would have nothing in common with the GOP interests - nite that daytime programming is very different from nighttime programming. Daytime is devoted to the markets - this is when a lot of their viewership is watching something else or is at work . Nighttime is dedicated to brainwashing segments , once the masses turn the channel or gets home from work . Ideally , ads don’t need to air in daytime as much as evening .
I’d add that there are some other buys that could occur too - like Newsnation.
I don’t think Fox is upper middle class. I think they’re typical middle to lower middle class, which would mean they are NOT getting Medicaid. I was in charge of my late mother’s finances during her last years and applied twice for Medicaid for her, so I know the requirements for that program. You have to be poor, with almost no assets and income to qualify. Much poorer than the typical retiree and certainly no where near middle class. I think the typical Fox viewer sees Medicaid recipients as “Takers” and would not be moved by these ads.
Ok. Let me try and get the breakout on medicaid recipients. It will help us zero in. Either way, it is still a better idea to reach out to the red states if you really want any chance of stopping this bill. So, the strat is still the same, irrespective of who gets affected the most and where a majortiy of those people live. No different than the cumulative effect created by the ACA.
THEY are also the takers-is what you’re missing. Red states are net TAKERS - they are the poor . There’s I think 1 state , NM, that runs a deficit - it’s a poor blue state . There are many poor red states.
What state was your mother denied Medicaid in ? Ea state is diff , some expanded some did not. How much in assets ? Most elders do not have a lot , even if once they would’ve been considered middle class, even upper middle class.
Most folks in poor areas have less access to good ed - and good healthcare , this is lifelong and impacts everything else - > sets the stage for poor health outcomes and poor mental health outcomes , higher substance use , etc working in higher risk jobs, etc etc - heck books are written on this .
Net takers ARE oppressed - there is value in their grievances - this must be countered with messaging , messaging that hides reality - it’s a heavy lift - it’s machinery that needs to run 24/7/365.
They have plenty of audience in Medicaid recipients - you are wrong about the class viewership - again, it depends on daytime nighttime audience , right ? Bc whom do you think is viewing the market shows? Lower to middle class?
Lower ti middle class is viewing the night shows - that’s tribalism , prime own the libs time - that’s when you air the Medicaid cuts ads.
I actually know folks on Medicaid - it doesn’t take much to fall into this category. I’m a RN working in public Ed now, formerly in home health , psych hospital
Also, you have to understand how Medicaid /medicare work together sometimes for nursing homes - elder care . How health insurance works in US - bc if you can’t work , bc you’re sick , you generally cannot access health ins. Premiums are high cost- high deduct - so even post ACA=> Medicaid is the option.
Also understand that some of the poorest people in the nation , the least educated live in rural red districts and states.
There’s a LOT of folks bonding in Red states as result of tribalism , own the libs - propaganda pushed out 24/7/365 on Fox “News”

unfortunatly the dems resemble a rabbit stuck in the headlights
Yea. Mostly. Lets change them first.

Control the controllables.
House can be won on the back of dem states + states with dem governors.
Excellent analysis and a good plan. The "owners" want all activity pushed into the private sector...

Pay for ads.
I don’t understand. Sorry.
Fox is a for profit corporation. Any one can place on order to run ads there. Democrats pay the money and run their ads.

I definitely like the idea of buying ad time on Fox.

Those watching Fox News aren’t rich except for their chief fan, President Trump. Many of my patients on Medicaid were home watching Fox News.
Florida. We’ll see what happens if/when these ads ever appear.
