Trump has a scapegoat. Name is Jerome Powell.
And this time, even MAGA might not buy the bullshit. Let’s cut him off before he spins the lie.
Donald Trump wants to fire Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. He probably won’t. Not because he’s changed, but because even he knows the economic mess he’s created ninety days into office needs Powell to clean it up. The GOP megadonors know it too. Some of them are already working the phones, trying to keep Powell in place—because saving Powell might be the only way they save themselves.
But whether Powell stays or Powell goes, one thing’s clear now. Trump—the self-proclaimed stable genius—is back to doing what he does best: breaking things he doesn’t understand, then blaming someone else when they don’t magically fix themselves. He still thinks tariffs can turn a 21st-century, service-driven, global economy into a 19th-century manufacturing utopia. It’s fantasy. And the fallout is already here.
So now he’s setting Powell up as the fall guy. For the inflation. For the slowdown. For the markets. For everything he broke—on purpose.
